People involved

Prof. Irene Sheridan

Irene is established and leads the MTU Extended Campus as well as the associated Enterprise Engagement and Experiential Learning (E3L) Research Group in Munster Technological University (MTU). Her background is in Electronic Engineering and she has worked for almost a decade in electronics design and manufacturing roles before entering academia. Irene is a Board Member of the Quality and Qualifications Authority Ireland (QQI). Her work includes a considerable body of publications including book chapters, journal articles and conference papers as well as project reports and policy contributions. The E3L research group has been a part of a number of national and European projects including the VISKA project which developed pathways for the recognition of the skills of migrants and refugees and the FIT4FoF project which developed an educational framework to support employers and employees in working with education providers to develop the skills needed for factories of the future.

Laura O’Donovan

Laura has considerable experience in researching, writing, and editing both EU and national high-quality economic reports for various agencies. Laura is a key researcher with the E3L Research Group and the MTU Extended Campus. Laura’s work includes a number of European projects including the STEM Valorise project which works to support the valorisation of PhD research ensuring that the work transitions from the university laboratory into improved products, processes and services, and the SME Cluster Growth project which aims to support the growth and development of small manufacturing industries in the region. Laura is also supporting the SFI-funded ADVANCE Centre for Research Training to develop guides for work placement in Doctoral Education with a view to enhancing the employability of the PhD graduates outside of the university.
